Oreck Fundraiser September 15, 2007
Puppy Love Caring Canines participated in its first fundraiser with the Oreck Company.
Oreck Company donated a percentage of its sales from a sales event to our organization.
What a fun day it was!! Two teams, Kallie & Grete, Sprite & Helene spent the
day at the Apple Valley store talking to people about our wonderful organization. An
information table with treats and beverages was set up. After the sales personnel did
their product demonstrations, people approached our teams and we provided an overview
and awareness about Assistance Dogs, Puppy Love Caring Canines organization, and what
rewards and benefits these special dogs bring to the people they touch.
The local community was so touched by Puppy Love, that they handed dog treats to the
handlers, provided names of potential clients, and other non-monetary donations. This
fundraising event was so successful that Oreck Company has asked PLCC back again in
the coming months. We hope to see you there!!

4th Annual Wag-N-Wheel Walk September 8, 2007
WOW!
What a day!! On a beautiful day over 200 walkers and their canines walked the 1mile scenic
route at Lac Lavon Park while taking part in the day's activities. At the registration
table there where fun filled gift bags for the participants as well as a bandana for each
dog.
Throughout the day participants mingled with each other and met with a wide range of
vendors including veterinarian's clinics, dog food companies, dog day care, and Scoop
Works to name of few.
Grete Krause, Executive Director of Puppy Love, was the MC for the day. The highest
pledge winner won a night's stay at the Millennium Hotel. A raffle was held this year
and was so successful that it will be held again next year.
We had
4 demonstrations, with two of these focusing on First Aid and Rescue topics for dogs.
Dances With Woofs, an obedience class that teaches dogs to do advance routines, presented
four performance numbers. Kathy and her dog Bandit, from Minnesota Search and Rescue,
demonstrated how to find an object anywhere in the park. Dr. Kate An Hunter did a presentation
on dog First Aid, including where to find a dog's pulse and what to do when a dog has
a cut. BART (Basic Animal Rescue Training) demonstrated some of the techniques they
teach firefighters on how to help animals rescued from building fires, including administering
CPR and giving a dog oxygen.
This Wag -N-Wheel walk benefit has been our most successful to date. We surpassed attendance
and financial support of previous years.
Look for us here again next September for more info on the 5th Wag-N-Wheel Event!!

PUPPY LOVE CARING CANINES AT THE 2006 MINNESOTA STATE FAIR September 1, 2006
What a show it was at the Minnesota State Fair. Grete Krause, the Executive Director and three PLCC clients and their partners did demonstrations in the Pet Center.
The three teams that did demonstrations were: one assistance dog that helps its owner with stability due to a medical condition, a dog who signals its owner of debilitating migraines, and an assistance dog who is being trained for a future client.
Hundreds of people attended the 2 shows. Grete spoke about how Puppy Love was created and its history, how a person can be a potential client, how one can become volunteer, and the do's and don't when approaching an assistance dog.
After their demonstrations each team went out and met the audience to educate and promote awareness about assistance dogs and answer any questions anyone had. The teams left with a lot accomplished and were being asked outside the Pet Center about the Puppy Love organization.

WOOFSTOCK September 16th, 2006
Puppy Love participated in Burnsville Camp Bow Wow's first nationwide charity event, "Woofstock". Three PLCC clients and their canine partners attended the event along with the Humane Society of the US, Helping Paws of Minnesota, Homeward Bound Dog Rescue, and Bark Busters. The proceeds from this event supported all these organizations including Puppy Love Caring Canines.
The event was held outside on a beautiful sunny day as well as inside. Two Puppy Love program dogs and their partners provided demonstrations outside. One of our assistance dogs helps its owner with daily living activities, i.e. taking off shoes and socks and one of our dogs is in training as a future assistance dog. Inside a PLCC program team was talking to potential volunteers and clients at the information table.
Throughout the day Country K102 provided on air updates on the event. All organizations, including Puppy Love, donated towards the silent auction. There was also a dog Kissing Booth, bobbing for hot dogs, a tour of Camp Bow Wow, and the Humane Society pet adoption.

Hundreds of people attend this event each year to learn more about area businesses and services.
This was a great opportunity for the general public to learn more about Puppy Love and meet some of the dogs. Education and raising awareness of what these dogs can do for people is one main focus of Puppy Love Caring Canines, and this expo gave us a chance to spread the word!
Puppy Love shared a booth with We ‘R’ Able. This community education program offers classes, activities and support for many people in Minnesota.
